Devver Docs

.devver.yaml Reference

Complete reference for the project configuration file.

.devver.yaml is the project-level config file used by devver deploy. It must be committed to your repository.

Generate it automatically with:

devver config init

Full example

services:
  web:
    build: .
    port: 3000
  api:
    build: ./api
    port: 8080

env:
  NODE_ENV: production
  LOG_LEVEL: info

database:
  enabled: true
  type: mongo

services

Defines the services that make up your application. Each key is a service name.

services:
  <name>:
build: <path> # Path to the Dockerfile or build context (default: .)
port: <number> # Port the service listens on
FieldTypeRequiredDescription
buildstring✗Build context path relative to the repo root
portnumber✗Port exposed by the container

env

Static environment variables to inject into every deployment. For sensitive values, use devver secret instead.

env:
  NODE_ENV: production
  PORT: "3000"

Do not store secrets in .devver.yaml. Use devver secret set for sensitive values — they are encrypted at rest and never committed to git.

database

Configures database linking at deploy time.

database:
  enabled: true
  type: mongo
FieldTypeRequiredDescription
enabledboolean✓Whether to prompt for a database during deployment
typestring✓Database type. Currently only mongo is supported

When enabled: true, devver deploy interactively asks you to select an existing database or create a new one. The connection string is injected automatically as MONGO_URL.

Minimal example

services:
  web:
    port: 3000
